💌A Note From Me
I just celebrated my birthday this week and I will not lie, it had me reflecting a little.
Last week, we talked about advocating for yourself.
But here is the part people do not talk about enough.
Your career does not just grow from what you say about yourself.
It grows from what people say about you when you are not in the room.
And that comes down to relationships.
The ones who put your name into opportunities, think of you when something opens up, and vouch for you in rooms you have not stepped into yet.
Those things do not happen by accident.
They are built through real, intentional relationships over time.
So this week, we are not just speaking up.
We are getting intentional about who is in our corner. You ready?
xoxo,
Jazzlyn
🔑 3 Ways to Build Relationships That Actually Move Your Career Forward

01. Make it a two-way street.
Relationships that actually go somewhere do not feel one sided. If you are only taking advice, time, or introductions, people feel it. Think about how you can add value too. Invite them to something, grab coffee, or offer to help on something they care about. Do not just pick their brain. Build something, even if it is small, together. That is what turns a conversation into a real relationship.
02. Expand your circle.
If you are surrounded by people at the same level, you are not going to level up. Your environment matters. Get in rooms with people who are already where you are trying to go and pay attention to how they think, move, and operate. That exposure alone will shift you. Your circle should stretch you, not mirror you.
03. Be someone people advocate for.
Opportunities come from people vouching for you when you are not in the room. Make your work visible and show your value, but also be someone people genuinely want to work with. Be reliable, positive, and easy to collaborate with. That combination is what gets your name mentioned in the right rooms.
